Can I use an ice pack on a radiation burn?
No, ice packs if incorrectly used, can cause skin burns which may vary from mild such as first degree burns or more severe such as second and third degree burns.

Can I use the pad immediately after it has been hydrated?
Yes but it is recommended the pad have the excess water lightly squeezed out and the pad rolled up in a thick towel for a few minutes to absorb the excess water.

Can the pad be used on an open burn?
No, this can introduce germs into an open wound. However, plastic kitchen wrap or a clean plastic bag can be used to cover the burn and then the pad placed on top of the plastic kitchen wrap or clean plastic bag. The Burn Treatment Center at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, has advocated prehospital and first-aid use of ordinary plastic wrap or cling film on burn wounds for almost two decades with very positive results.

How should I store the pad?
